The doctors have performed surgery on a 31-year-old Ukrainian woman and her two 5-year-old sons who lost their eyesight in a bomb explosion.

As a result of the operations, all three patients have regained their vision, according to Gazeta Wyborcza.

"It was a meaningful experience for me as a doctor, especially when I saw how the blind mother was taking care of her children," the head of the team, Prof. Robert Rejdak, told the daily.

The team has also operated on five other Ukrainians, two adults and three children, and is ready to help more patients from Ukraine in the future, according to Gazeta Wyborcza.

"We’ve been consulted on several dozen cases," Rejdak said. "When it’s impossible to treat a patient in Lviv but we see a chance for treatment here, we invite the patient to come to our hospital," he added, as quoted by Gazeta Wyborcza.

The Polish hospital also supplies eye specialists in Lviv with surgical and dressing materials, the newspaper reported.
